There’s nothing like the power of a celebrity charity pledge to set off a chain reaction of good will.
And that’s exactly what Jared Leto did this week as he took to Twitter to urge supermodel Cara Delevingne to “do something good, no matter how big or small” as part of the #goodthingschallenge.
He also nominated Imagine Dragon's front-man Dan Reynolds and The Chainsmoker's Drew Taggart.
My good friend @Zedd nominated me for the #goodthingchallenge. I nominate @Caradelevingne, @DanReynolds & @drewtaggart to do something good, no matter how big or small. For my good thing I donated to these people:— JARED LETO (@JaredLeto) October 23, 2019
Revealing that his friend Zedd was responsible for the nomination, the actor also shared that he had donated money to a child who had suffered burns as a two-year-old when his bed caught fire, and two other toddlers who were in a stroller when a car hit them.
He also posted links to both GoFundMe pages, which revealed that he had donated $5,000 to each fundraiser.
Originally started by Zedd, the #goodthingchallenge campaign is “all about doing good for somebody else” and the gesture can be as small as “buying a coffee for the person in line behind you.”
And Jared reiterated this by tweeting, “I encourage everyone to do the #goodthingschallenge. Remember the smallest gesture can make a big impact… even if it’s just a hello and a smile.”
