The 20th anniversary celebrations of the seminal album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill continued in the Middle East last night as the elusive artist headlined the first night of the Dubai Jazz Fest.
Rather than having her entire stage wardrobe and footwear sponsored by a powerhouse brand, continuing to educate us all, Ms Lauryn Hill prefers to wear homegrown designers when she tours.
Travelling with stylist Johanna Laracuente, Lauryn took to the stage in a fuchsia pink gown from Dubai label OTT's AW19 Jardin de Flores collection which in the brand's own words celebrates the "hyper-coloured, hyper-eclectic sensibilities of grandma chic." This was layered over a Dries Van Noten zebra top with exaggerated sleeves, a headpiece by local milliner Evelyn McDermott and chunky statement jewellery from Monies.
The result? A high-impact look artfully crafted with consciousness and respect for the creative talent of the region and her audience.
Lauryn was also spotted wearing a chartreuse turban by Sharjah-based national treasure and three-times Grazia Style Award winner Essa Walla.
Lionel, it's your move...
