Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have quit the royal family

On the hunt for a new job this January? Looks like you have some competition in the form of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The royal couple have taken the concept of “New Year, new you” to a whole new level and have announced they are leaving the British royal family for professional pastures new.

Taking to Instagram, the couple revealed the reasons behind their shock decision.

They wrote: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

The couple also revealed that “encouragement” from supporters empowered them to make the decision.

Despite basing themselves in London up until this point, Meghan and Harry will now split their time between the UK and North America, and while they also hinted that they will continue to fulfil certain royal duties, they shared that they will also be starting a new “charitable entity”.

And with people like the Obamas and Oprah Winfrey on speed dial, we’ve sure the couple will have no problem in making their mark (or making their millions).
