We can't even handle winter in Dubai

Manal Rostom is conquering challenges, smashing stereotypes and achieving big dreams – oh, and leading an all-female expedition to Everest. Personal trainer, winner of the Facebook Community Leadership Award and face of the Nike Pro Hijab, Manal is constantly fighting the negative stereotypes she’s faced since deciding to wear a hijab at the age of 21. These daily challenges led to the creation of Surviving Hijab – her Facebook group for Middle-Eastern women, which aims to create a safe space to share stories, and provides a comfortable environment for those eager to learn about the culture.

Manal was chosen to debut the Nike Pro Hijab

Manal declares “my dreams are bigger than the people tearing me down”, which, quite honestly, are words we could all live by. To help conquer the elements, Namshi, the UAE’s favourite online fashion destination, is providing the best mountaineering gear to ensure the women stay comfortable in the hostile (read: very cold) environment.

We hope you remembered your blankets!

The all-female expedition includes women from 10 countries, including the U.A.E, Syria, Canada and Hungary, and will be taking place until the 31st. Got a case of FOMO? You can search #SHxEBC on Instagram or follow Namshi to (digitally) tag along with the gang on their adventure. Good luck ladies – and feel free to bring us back a t-shirt!
