Is lip threading the new fillers?

Is lip threading the new fillers?

If you’ve always wanted to plump up your pout but are nervous about looking like every other Instagram influencer, lip threading could be the answer.

The procedure which involves passing miniature threads through a small tube to lift the skin, is made from a biocompatible synthetic substance.

Traditional lip fillers involve injections of hyaluronic acid to alter the size and shape of the lip, however, the threads which are inserted into the border of the lips, stimulate collagen production and change the size and shape of the lips by lifting the skin rather than plumping it artificially.

And while you are injecting something into your face, the fact that the threads dissolve and help generate collagen production, means they are technically more natural than filler.

The gradual breakdown means they last longer than filler too. Plus, the look is also a lot more subtle –think a more defined shape rather than an over-exaggerated pout.

The downside? If the lip threads are inserted incorrectly, they’re harder to remove, so it’s more difficult to reverse the treatment.

But with so many celebrities and influencers opting to get their fillers removed (Huda and Kylie Jenner to name just two), we predict that it's only a matter of time before this more subtle approach goes mainstream.
