Is the new Beautyblender foundation any good? We roadtested it on Carpool Cosmetics

Grazia girls, listen up. We've launched Carpool Cosmetics on its very own YouTube platform. Here, you can watch all of the episodes from series one and eagerly anticipate the upcoming episodes of series two (the first episode, below, is live). It would also be a wheely good idea to follow Carpool Cosmetics on Instagram and join us in the next stage of the ride...

We feel honoured to be joined in the backseat by Beautyblender ambassador Erica Dickerson, daughter of the brand’s founder, Rea Ann Silva. Visiting all the way from America, Erica buckles up with Digital Editor Olivia Phillips to introduce Beautyblender’s first ever make-up product - a foundation called Bounce, designed to be used with the sponge and full of great, plumping ingredients like birch water and hyaluronic acid. Tell us more, Erica…

The cult beauty company is best known for its teardrop-shaped make-up applicators (seriously, if you don’t use this to apply your foundation, who are you?). As the ladies get comfy in the back of the Careem, Erica reveals the brand was born by accident. Rea Ann, a professional make-up artist, was working on a set and started cutting sponges to apply the make-up. Then she realised she was onto something. Amazing.

Erica – of Latina and African-American descent - explains that Beautyblender takes inclusivity seriously, hence why they’ve launched 40 shades of the foundation.  The matte, liquid formula is housed in packaging that has a lock feature, so spillage fears are erased, and a first-of-its-kind built-in palette, which you press to deposit the foundation onto before applying. Genius. “Wet, squeeze, bounce is our motto,” Erica says. “Leaving your hands out application is a must because it can be quite unsanitary.” Noted.
