Skin fasting involves going product-free for 7 days (or as long as you can manage), and is the latest trend to hit skincare - we’re convinced it was created by an equally exhausted beauty lover. According to scientists, our skin has the ability to take care of itself – if we give it a chance. By constantly applying products, our body thinks we have enough moisture, stopping production and leading to dry skin – meaning we pile on more moisturiser… you see where this is going.
A Japanese beauty trend, skin fasting is said to detoxify the skin of its impurities, most of which come from all those lotions, and allows the skin’s natural oils to work their magic. The break also restores any nutrients that have been stripped away from over-cleansing, and helps to rebuild your skin's protective barrier.
