From lamination to Botox, it seems there’s a new brow treatment on the market every other week.
And while microblading has been around for years and is pretty much par for the course at this stage, microfeathering is hot on its heels as the latest must-have trend.
So, what sets microfeathering apart from microblading? The process is essentially the same – semi-permanent brows achieved via inserting pigment into the brow area, but with microfeathering, tiny feather-like strokes that mimic real hairs are done to achieve a more natural look that follows the pattern of your natural hair growth rather than an outline or artificial shape.
Think fluffy boy brows instead of super-groomed Kardashian style face framers and you’ll be on the right track.
Pioneered by Hollywood’s go-to Kristie Streicher, she describes it as “not a three-dimensional procedure” and “not meant to create an entirely new eyebrow, but more of a way to refine and define a beautiful eyebrow”, so microblading won’t necessarily suit everyone.
And with nearly 30,000 tags on Instagram to date, we’ve a feeling it won’t be long before microfeathering enters the mainstream, and a salon near you.
