Would you describe yourself as powderphobic? Here at Grazia, we shy away from powders that seem to age the skin, make our face look like it's covered in flour and feel as dry as the Middle Eastern desert.
So we readily accepted an invitation to be one of the first to try Laura Mercier's new Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow. The finely milled miracle has been dubbed the glowing sister to the brand's cult-favourite setting powder, so expectations were high.
We spent time with Laura's UK trainer James Webster, who visited the region to tell us more about how the product gives skin the natural-looking luminosity it craves.
"The original Transclusent Loose Powder is globally our number one product, and it’s 23 years old!" James starts. "Now, we're introducing Glow. For the first time, you can set your look with a glow finish. There is a huge trend for dewy, radiant make-up, but the reality is when you set your make-up with powder, you kill it. This product is formulated with 12-hour staying power but gives a luminous finish thanks to it being infused with a custom blend of pearl pigments." Dreamy.
James adds: "We’ve devised a tool for applying this product too. The Glow brush works after it has picked up the product, then followed the contours of the face. The result is a subtle, elegant and illuminating setting that's not shimmery."
The innovative powder - available in translucent and translucent medium deep - was super light and definitely created a healthy-looking finish with just enough coverage. And - perhaps best of all - we were told there's no risk of camera flashback after application. We took a selfie to celebrate, obviously.
Available at Sephora from 1 September. Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow is priced at Dhs184. The application brush is Dhs183
