The revolving door of hair trends is something the beauty world has become intimately acquainted with. Classic ‘dos fall out of fashion season after season only to resurface into modern hair lexicon a few fashion cycles later.

Making an unexpected, yet long-overdue return this season is the ‘60s 'Flip'. You know the look: Think Jackie O's hair - voluminous at the roots that flips out at the ends.

Now seen on the tresses of  Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian West alike, the hairstyle originally surfaced in the ‘60s, characterised by its infamous bounce with added bends and waves.

The ‘90s saw an edgy revival of sorts featuring a staggered perimeter with less defined ends, while today’s version is a sleeker look with weight being distributed to the chunkier baseline.

Giving the retro locks added modern appeal, celebrities have been experimenting beyond the bob, with half-up-half-down ‘dos and high ponytails with flipped-out ends.
