Everyone say hello to Sabrina Chappell - aka Kate Middleton's (or should we say, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge's) erstwhile hairdresser, who swung by Dubai this week via her two outposts in London and Atlanta, to talk a) being summoned to Buckingham Palace, b) Prince Harry's jokes and c) how to do the perfect braided up-do.
Sabrina - who splits her time between working in famous London salon Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa and Atlanta's Nadia's Studio & Gallery but is also available for bookings in the UAE (we suggest sliding into her DMs here) - showed Digital Editor Olivia Phillips how to do the speediest, speedbump-proof up-do involving a braid. The reason? That's what she did for Kate Middleton when she was first summoned. Fancy.
Sabrina began by backcombing Olivia's hair at the crown, before doing a regular French plait at the top and a fishtail towards the bottom. Her key pieces of advice when doing an up-do? "Keep it dirty!" she insists. "And use two types of pins and grips - regular hairgrips to create the foundation of the hair-up so it doesn't move, and then skinny pins to fix the loose tendrils and waves." Learn something new every day, don't you?
Pretty, huh? For more tutorials like this, for more lolz in the back of the Careem, and for the kind of beauty competitions that will get your heart rate up, don't forget to follow @carpoolcosmetics on Instagram and subscribe to their standalone channel on YouTube here.
