Teaming up with designer Nicola Formichetti of New York-based fashion label Nicopanda, MAC has created a kitsch range of Panda-emblazoned beauty products that we just can’t get enough of.
Having worked at Mugler as Creative Director, Uniqlo as Creative Fashion Director, Diesel as Artistic Director, and heading up his own streetwear brand, Nicopanda, since 2011, Nicola has been a busy man.
So why the move into make-up? “Nicopanda is about youth – the new generation. The brand is always about trying new things, sharing and creating new ideas, so I wanted to tackle the beauty world with Nicopanda. A cosmetics collaboration with MAC is a natural partnership,” Nicola explains.
Transforming Nicopanda’s edgy, cute streetwear designs into make-up form, MAC has released face stickers for the first time, in playful heart, flower and punctuation motifs, as well as breaking new boundaries with avant-garde palettes and false eyelashes.
Showcasing Nicola’s love of colour, eyeshadows, lipsticks and glosses come in vivid greens and purple hues to represent diversity and total freedom of expression – whether you choose to be subtle or strong – all featuring Nicopanda’s signature mascot.
