It's funny how certain labels seem to spring from nowhere to become global obsessesions. Nigora Tabayer may have only launched her line this year but has already become a firm red carpet favourite, adored by the likes of Bella Hadid, Halima Aden, Shanina Shaik and Coco Rocha. We suppose it doesn't hurt that she unveiled The Eye Collection at a glitzy Paris Fashion Week event hosted by style icon and snongstres, Caroline Vreeland.
But Nigora Tabayer's dramatic high jewellery isn't just cult, it's cultural too. Her debut designs, initially manufactured by the world-renown House of Graff, all feature the evil eye, a motif believed to ward off dangera and act as a talisman of protection for the wearer. It is a symbol with huge cultural significance, not just in Central Asia where Tabayer was raised, but all across the world. We suspect part of Tabayer's appeal is the fact tha not only are the pieces exquisite, they can also be personalised. Given how deeply personal jewellery is, it's no wonder Shanina and Halima want to wear a piece that's unique both on and off the red carpet.
We see big things in this talented up-and-comer's future.
