Alber Elbaz is returning with a new "dream factory" fashion brand

If you’ve been missing Alber Elbaz’s whimsical take on fashion, you’re in for a treat.

The Moroccan-born creative is teaming up with Swiss luxury conglomerate Richemont to create an “innovative and dynamic start up” named AZfashion.

The 58-year-old who left French fashion house Lanvin four years ago and has largely stayed away from the fashion industry up until now, had been at the helm there for 14 years, and described his departure as a personal “tragedy”.

However, it seems he has firmly put the past behind him and has described his new venture as a place where he will be “developing focus on developing solutions for women of our times.”

“His talent and inventiveness, with his sensitivity toward women and their wellbeing, will be of great value to our group and its maisons,” Johann Rupert, chairman of Richemont, said of the partnership with Elbaz.
