Despite being over two years in the making (the initial announcement was made in June 2017), the Off-White x Ikea collaboration managed to be the most successful of the year when it hit stores this November.
Named “Markerad”, the capsule collection of homewares featured all the branding hallmarks Virgil Abloh is famous for, and while the price points for the items were in line with standard Ikea furniture, demand for the collection was so high, Lyst has reported that the “Keep Off” rug, which sold out in five minutes, is now being sold for up to seven times its retail price on eBay.
But the Off-White x Ikea collaboration wasn’t the only one that had shoppers in a fashion frenzy.
Reformation x New Balance, which reinvented the brand’s 574 and X-90 styles, was one of the hottest of the year.
And the Rick Owens x Birkenstock partnership resulted in a 400 per cent increase in searches for the brand after the second drop in April. The collection subsequently sold out.
Sacia x Nike’s second set of sneakers also sparked a 344 per cent rise in sales.
And Supreme x Stone Island is still going strong – searches for it were up 72 per cent in September.
