Aseel reveals why Pinko’s exclusive collection of kaftans isn’t just for Ramadan
Songstress, TV star and social-media sensation Aseel Omran shares the secret to her success, and her personal definition of modesty
Saudi-born songbird Aseel Omran's sublime vocal talents may have made her a megastar in the Arab world, but her 4.8 million Instagram followers have sealed her success across the globe – all without losing her girl-next-door appeal. “I believe the most important factor that resonates with my followers is simplicity,” she muses. “I’m all about a clean, elegant, no-fuss, everyday style. My looks are generally very easy to achieve and replicate, so I feel my fanbase are able to relate to me in a very relaxed way.”

Aseel reveals, “Ramadan is
always a busy time for me with iftars, suhoors and industry events. I also have a Ramadan TV series, which means lots of cameras and interviews, so I prefer to be in contemporary, comfortable looks – long kaftans and simple dresses.”
“I have been a fan of Pinko for a while now, and you’ll find lots of pieces in my closet,” she reveals. “I was extremely excited about the shoot especially since Pinko is launching an exclusive capsule collection of kaftans specifically for the region that can be worn all year round.”

The impact of the modesty movement on the catwalks worldwide certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed by Aseel. “The fashion industry is rapidly embracing this trend and you can see several brands incorporating modest options into their looks and collections,” she points out. “Modest fashion is a clothing option for everyone and is certainly not region-specific."

Moreover, she’s keen to dispell
the modesty myth. “In my opinion,
modesty is viewed differently from the eyes of the observer. What I
think is modest, may not necessarily
be modest to someone else. There’s
not one category of the style
anymore – you can have modest
streetwear, modest minimalism,
modest couture looks and so on.”

Aseel’s favourite look of the day?
“I absolutely love the colourful kaftan I’m wearing on the cover. My summer style is easy, breezy and this epitomises it perfectly. It’s elegant, feminine and flowery – great for the upcoming hotter months and is sure to make every
girl feel gorgeous.”
