The luxury brand known for classics such as the Jacquard Parka and car coat have decided to give their staples (and the planet) a second life by introducing a sustainable twist. The capsule collection of revamped coats and jackets was created using Econyl yarn in collaboration with nylon experts. Econyl is an eco-friendly version of nylon, it is crafted with industrial plastic destined for landfills, fabric scraps from the ocean and fishing nets.
This isn't the first time Burberry has stepped into the eco-friendly fashion field. Prior to the collection, the brand experimented with incorporating coconut shells into fabric and yarn made of upcycled cotton to make protective bags. The brand also committed to a zero-waste policy and have aimed to become carbon neutral by 2022.
