Burberry’s latest campaign is a prime example of Riccardo Tisci doing what Riccardo Tisci does best. Since his accession as Chief Creative Officer, he has welcomed a refreshing new era of diversity for Burberry. And the cult Brit brand's Spring/Summer 2020 campaign is a testament to that.
Shot by Inez and Vinoodh, the campaign stars familiar faces; Kendall Jenner and both of the Hadid sisters, alongside up-and-coming Turkish-Somali-Ethiopian model Mona Tougaard, African model Tosin Olajire, Japanese model Nozumu Ito, Chinese model He Cong, and Karl Lagerfeld muse Freja Beha Erichsen - deep breath - to name just a few.
“I have been working for a few seasons to define a new identity and visual language for this house, and this campaign feels like the beginning,” Riccardo explained in a statement.
“I wanted to celebrate the men and women who represent Burberry – some who have been a long-standing part of my career and others who have started this Burberry journey with me.”
“I think Burberry plays a huge role in fashion as it represents so many generations, respecting and reinterpreting its legacy, as well as creating future classics for the new generation,” Mona Tougaard said about working on the campaign. We couldn't agree more.
