Chanel and Pharrell: all other collaborations can go home now

As high-powered friendships go, Karl Lagerfeld and Pharrell Williams' pally alliance is one to beat. The singer-songwriter's longtime relationship with both the maison and Karl himself has resulted in a few killer collaborations already - most notably composing the soundtrack for and appearing in Chanel short film Reincarnation in 2014 and lending his gloriously age-defying face to the Métiers d’art collection Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 campaign, which was shot by Monsieur Lagerfeld, too.

This collab, however, has got us more hot under the CC-emblazoned collar than most. Chanel - Pharrell (come on, with a rhyming couplet like that we're surprised this didn't happen sooner) is a capsule collection set to launch on 29 March in Seoul, South Korea and then in selected global Chanel boutiques from 4 April 2019.

Announcing it in perhaps the coolest way ever during an intimate concert after the Cruise 2018/19 show in Bangkok last week, Pharrell cheekily pulled up his jumper to reveal boxer shorts covered in interlocking Cs before saying, "Coming soon." Mic well and truly dropped.

Giving us a peek of what's to come from the ready-to-wear and accessories capsule collection, Pharrell pulled on a canary-yellow hoodie peppered with embroidered Chanelisms. We predict sunglasses, tracksuits and T-shirts, not to mention sneakers - of which Pharrell has had plenty of experience to draw on, having designed one for Chanel last year and fresh from his hugely successful collab with adidas.

He's happy - but not as happy as we are right now.
