Emirati Swiss luxury firm Mouawad has collaborated with The Miss Universe Organization to create a new winner’s crown.
The crown which will now be worn by the newly crowned Miss Universe, Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi has been named the “Power of Unity” crown, and the brand want it to be “a symbol of strength in diversity and of the power of women”.
The new crown will replace the current Mikimoto Crown, crafted by Japanese designer Tomohiro Yamaji, which had been worn from 2002 to 2007, and again from 2017 up to 2018.
Started in Beirut in 1890, Mouawad is now based between Dubai and Geneva and the brand is famous for breaking records with its extravagant designs.
In 2016, it broke the Guinness World Record for the most valuable jewellery box in the world after it crafted the $3.5million Flower of Eternity Jewellery Coffer.
And in 2011, the company broke the Guinness World Record for the world’s most expensive handbag after it designed the diamond-encrusted 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, valued at $3.8million.
