Fendi included plus-size models in its show for the first time ever

Kaia Gerber and Gigi and Bella Hadid usually command attention but all eyes were on Jill Kortleve and Paloma Elsesser during Fendi’s Autumn/Winter 2020 runway show in Milan. Why? They made history as the first plus-size models to ever walk in a Fendi show. Yep, EVER.

Though not new to the house - the New York-born Elsesser starred in Fendi's ad campaign in 2018 - it was her very first Fendi show. She made her debut in a pastel yellow jacket, and, right after the monumental show, she took to Instagram to express how grateful she felt.

"I will save all the prophetic language, for once, as I literally have no words!!! I would simply like to express my gratitude for this monumental moment. thank you to EVERYONE INVOLVED," she wrote. Elsesser further explained that she felt "protected, safe, and seen" and added that the moment was not only big to her, but to everyone who hasn't often seen their body shape represented on the runway.

Although she's previously walked for Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Mugler, Fendi was also a first for fellow model Jill Kortleve.

Kortleve shared on Instagram: "Sometimes I feel like my life isn’t real, thankful for all the opportunities I get and all the people that believe in me and help make it all happen."

A great moment in fashion, and we only hope Paris follows suit.
