Our planet is in crisis and everyone is doing their bit to make sure it’s around for future generations to enjoy – including some of fashion’s biggest names. While some designers are using eco-friendly materials and energy-saving manufacturing methods, Gucci has taken it up a notch and has just made its entire supply chain carbon neutral.
The luxury fashion house is taking responsibility for the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated throughout their creative process by implementing low-impact alternatives and sustainable materials, as well as sourcing raw materials from agricultural systems that restore habitats for important biodiversity. Phew.
And Gucci doesn’t want to go it alone. In a new era of corporate accountability and transparency in fashion, Gucci’s calling for all businesses to claim responsibility for the harm they’re causing to our home.
The luxury brand hopes to reduce emissions by 50 per cent by 2025. The good news? It’s already managed a 16 per cent reduction, so they’re well on their way. Bravo, Gucci. We can't wait to see who else is going to follow suit.
