In a game of metamorphosis, 11 artists have completely reimagined the timeless Lady Dior bag in the fourth edition of Dior Lady Art.
Like the woman who wears it, the classic piece continues to reinvent, reimagine and reassert itself as an emblem of beauty: inherently refined, self-assured and with a transgenerational attitude.
Grazia Middle East travelled to London in pursuit of one of this year’s most visionary masterpieces, created by Raqib Shaw.
Forget just the world, London-based Indian artist Raqib Shaw takes us on a journey through time, mythology and folklore – a Lady Dior to experience like a marvellous fairy tale bridging past, present and future. We begin in the late Christian Dior’s childhood garden, reinterpreted by Shaw as a romantic but dark Eden with a starry night sky and supernatural magnolia trees.

Precious detailing, such as boney but beautiful twigs, adorns the iconic piece, accented with gold detailing. In one version, a stunning enamel bird in sky-, electric- and river-blue, complete with orange, red and gold finishing, takes flight across the Lady Dior – when worn, the beautiful bird mesmerisingly sways from side to side.
