Remember Katie Holmes' cashmere cardigan and matching bra moment? That famous image of Holmes hailing a cab which stormed social media and every possible fashion news outlet thereafter? Yes, that.
If you haven't heard, NYC brand Khaite is the hottest name on everyone's lips. The brainchild of Cate Holstein, the American brand has been in the game since 2016, but it wasn't until the Katie Holmes effect that the world opened its eyes and asked, "who is this?"
In our social media soaked society, it seems there's a cult brand popping up every other day, but there is something different - and enduring - about Khaite. It produced the type of clothes and accessories everyone wants to wear.
It-girls also play to Khaite's allure. From Lily Aldridge, Jennifer Lawrence, and Dakota Johnson to Kaia Gerber, Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez, the brand is popping up everywhere and on everyone on social media.
Which begs the question - is it the new Bottega Veneta?
Don't get us wrong, we praise creative director Daniel Lee's Bottega, but maybe, just maybe, Khaite isn't just a hip brand of the moment, but on its way to becoming a powerful force playing in the big luxe leagues - sooner than we think.
