She announced her retirement from music in dramatic fashion in September, taking to Twitter to tell fans she wanted to focus on her family instead.
But never one to shy away from breaking the rules, Nicki Minaj has decided to return to the music business to launch Fendi’s latest capsule collection, Prints On.
A long-time fan of the luxury fashion label, the New Yorker first showed her musical appreciation for Fendi in her hit track Chun-Li, where the lyrics mention her having “Fendi prints on”.
She also wore a Fendi logo fur bomber jacket with matching vintage Fendi bikini bottoms on the cover of the single.
And now she’s teamed up with rapper PnB Rock to launch the 127-piece edit, in the video for a song simply named Fendi.
In the video, Nicki can be seen throughout sporting a selection of hot pink and metallic silver items, plus a pretty fierce-looking Fendi mani.
And while the Prints On collection includes women’s, men’s, and children’s line, viewers have only been given a glimpse of the adult offering, with Nicki posing up a storm poolside alongside a selection of topless male models.
Taking to Twitter to share more details, the 38-year-old musician thanked her fans and shared that their support for her music ultimately led to the collaboration.
"Don't you ever doubt yourself. If anyone would've told me as a lil girl from Trinidad that grew up poor that one day my face would be on a piece of @Fendi clothing, I would've laughed. Your support for #ChunLi led to this. A song I made up off the top of my head as a joke. ILoveU,” she wrote on the social media platform.
The Fendi Prints On collection is available 14th October online and in select stores.
