Sophia Webster is launching a capsule collection made from recycled materials

Luxury and recycled don’t usually go together in the same sentence, but with the fashion industry making strides in its efforts to make its manufacturing processes more sustainable, the latest high-end brand to follow suit is footwear label Sophia Webster.

Featuring the London-based designer’s Renata sandal, the Upcycled collection reflects Sophia’s personal commitment to reducing waster by giving surplus materials a second life.

Taking glitter from her AW15 'Freak Like Me’ show and iridescent tweed from SS17’s ‘Dolly Birds of Paradise’, the collection of six sandals will be limited in numbers, and quantities produced will depend on the volume of excess materials available.

Speaking about her decision to embark in this direction, Sophia explained, “I love being challenged to create compelling new designs with a random selection of colours and patterns, that’s my idea of fun. The best thing about this however, is finding another way to reduce our impact on the environment, this time by re-purposing much loved materials.”

Available online from her UK site, the Sophia Webster x Upcycled collection is available to buy now.
