A round of applause for Stella McCartney, please. The effortlessly cool fashion designer and avid campaginer for cruelty-free fashion has teamed up with adidas on a leather-free, vegan edition of its classic Stan Smith sneaker.
The trainer traditionally features a white body with adidas' trademark three-stripe motif, but Stella's version replaces the three stripes with a star pattern. Also, a portrait of Stella decorates the tongue of the left shoe, while the right tongue features a picture of Stan Smith – the US tennis star the shoe is named after.
Finally, the heel counter showcases a burgundy and blue striped design, while the heel tab is black and includes both brand logos. Love, love, love.
Commenting on the union on Instagram, Stella gushed: "We've been collaborating with adidas for so many years, and this is the next chapter in that collaboration. Creating a vegan leather Stan Smith brings a modern twist to an iconic design."
The sports brand added: "Using non-leather materials is the cornerstone of our ethos, as part of our ongoing commitment to cruelty-free fashion."
The super-chic shoe becomes the latest product in a long-term collaboration between the It-Brit designer and adidas. In the past, the pair have teamed up on a trainer made from plastic recovered from the sea and outfits for Team GB Olympic athletes.
Let's get this cruelty-free footwear trend catching.
