According to Lyst’s rundown of the year that was, a handful of brands have been dominating search engine results, and if you haven’t heard of them yet, you definitely will in the forthcoming year.
Rotate Birger Christensen
The brainchild of Danish stylists and influencers, Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, Rotate epitomises the Scandi cool-girl aesthetic and champions the dress in its many forms. Its aim is to “fill in the gaps” in your wardrobe, and it seems to have a struck a chord with shoppers as searches for the brand increased by 27% in 2019.
This Italian streetwear label dipped its (presumably limited-edition sneaker-clad) toe into the industry with a collection of sweaters, and has since expanded its repertoire to include dresses, track pants and jackets. Searches for the brand increased by 23% in 2019.
This New York City streetwear inspired label features lots of slim line tailoring, favours a palette of black and counts Lady Gaga and Kanye West as fans so it’s no wonder searches for it increased by 36% in 2019.
The French fashion designer won the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers in 2017 and ever since has been garnering critical acclaim and consumer approval thanks to her collections that blend cputure shapes with streetwear fabrics. So much so, searches for Marine Serre increased by 32% in 2019.
Searches increased by 38% for the Copenhagen-based designer’s dreamy voluminous dresses in 2019. Bahnsen favours traditional manufacturing techniques and couture craftsmanship.
