Fashion Futures, a brand new initiative organised by the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is underway.
And while the next two days are jam-packed full of panel talks and one-on-one interviews with some of the biggest and best names in the fashion industry globally, the event is also revealing details of new initiatives designed to foster and nurture fashion talent in the region.
The first big announcement? Saudi is set to partner with the iconic Parsons Design School in New York City, and will provide scholarships for budding Middle Eastern designers.
His Excellency Mr. Hamed M. Fayez, the Vice Minister at the Ministry of Culture, also announced details of a new Fashion Commission.
Parsons has produced some of the biggest names in fashion over the years, and alumni include Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Tom Ford and Alexander Wang.
