I remained unconvinced by the micro-bag trend until By Far’s Mini in patent leather stepped on to the scene. It’s petite enough to meet the trend’s T&Cs, but big enough to house my admin needs: iPhone Plus, Dior Addict Lip Glow, and credit card. Better still, for a cautious shopper such as myself, the modest price point won’t break the bank.

Bulgarian-based brand By Far entered the fashion sphere a little less than three years ago and has since exploded across every fashion gal’s wardrobe. The fashion label is focused on functional shoes and bags (predominantly leather), which champion sturdy and reliable styles but with cool quirks. Think kitten heels in geometric shapes, demure bags with dual handles, and unconventional shapes and colours for any experimental wardrobe.

My favourite piece, the Mini, can play it either cool and casual or feminine and feline, on demand. For the former, dress down with this season’s military trend. See khaki high-waist pants, a black shirt and kitten-heels, or simply pair up with your favourite jeans and a timeless white T-shirt. And for the latter, add a jewel-toned bohemian-style dress or a pastel-hued skirt and shirt combo. Petite perfection.

Some may argue that mini bags are on trend for 2019 and will be out the window come 2020, but having seen the batallion of tiny styles hitting this month’s Spring/Summer 2020 runways in London and Paris – from Dior and Burberry to Balenciaga and Saint Laurent – it’s quite clear that micro bags are a thing of the future, even if they do provide a little less ba(n)g for your buck…
