A flamboyant fashion fusion of Italian dolce vita and the mystery of Middle East is what Dubai dwellers have in store for us tonight at the Dolce & Gabbana #DGLovesDubai runway show, if Domenico and Stefano stay true to their word.
Dubai is the latest stop on Dolce & Gabbana's three-year world tour which has seen the designers staging extravagant productions in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York, and Mexico City. "We want to tell the world who Dolce & Gabbana are. We love to share our style, and in every city we try to mix the Dolce & Gabbana style with the DNA of the country," Stefano told Grazia this morning ahead of the big night.
The Dubai Mall show celebrates the opening of the new, three-storey, no-expense-spared Dolce & Gabbana boutique in the Fashion Avenue extension and the designers also promise us their creations will honour the values and customs of the culture. "We love the country, we show respect for the country. The collection will be Dubai through our eyes."
Spoiler alert: in addition to new interpretations on the abaya, Domenico and Stefano reveal we can expect embroidery, Baroque influences, black, gold, burgundy, velvet, and brocade on tonight's catwalk, and of the 128 womenswear and menswear looks presented on the night half are one-offs, especially made and only available in Dubai. Race you to boutique, Grazia girls!
