In addition to announcing the Cruise 2021 show will go ahead in Lecce, Maria Grazia Chiuri made a compelling argument why Fashion Weeks shouldn't become a permanent coronavirus casualty. "I think it’s important to remember that Fashion Week is not only important for the fashion family it’s also important for the city where the fashion show is."
Referring to the part fashion has to play for the eonomic infracture of the fashion capitals concerned, she continues, "I know that me and Pietro [Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture], we are Italian, so we know very well the importance of Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week not only for the fashion system but also for the city."
Maria Grazia's statement comes as the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode confirmed that Paris Fashion Week will go ahead from 28 September to 6 October, while complying with the recommendations from Parisian authorities.
