We’ve all held a solemn moment of silence or two for our fallen T-shirts; some that have become more food particle than fabric, others that disintegrated into dust-rag territory. There is nary a moment more sorrowful than this for the mother of a growing wardrobe, sometimes leading to much-needed retail therapy, or - in some cases like that of Kristy Caylor - entrepreneurial action to put a stop to our wardrobe woes.
Having founded ethical luxury label Maiyet, Kristy Caylor went on to ask herself, “What happens next? What are we doing to ensure ethical standards for clothes after we’re done wearing them?” She says “I sold things and gave things to my friends, yet I was still left with a pile of stained T-shirts and single socks which would certainly not be part of the sharing economy.”
For Days is her answer to that question. Built as a subscription service with a closed-loop system (the first of its kind), For Days is Caylor’s just-launched T-shirt company reducing closet clutter and wardrobe waste. Double trouble, no?
For Days features monthly memberships starting at $12 for organic tees with environmentally responsible dyes. What sets it apart though, is that it not only sends out T-shirts, but it also asks for them back when they’re well past their prime, all to be upcycled into something new. Let’s not forget the fresh replacement tee they send back in return. Consider us amazed.
