At one point last week, the Grazia girls found ourselves choosing between five different fonts to personalise our DXB Doormats. For the record, I've chosen an aggressively Instagrammable montsera leaf-strewn welcome mat, while guests at Digital Editor Olivia Phillips' abode will be greeted at the door with Yalla Habibi in a swirly handwritten script. And freshly baked cookies. Probably.
DXB Doormats is the brainchild of South African full-time mum-of-two, Katherine Abdeen. The self-confessed Pinterest-obsessive decorates Dubai's best-dressed doormats with flamingos and watermelons, as well as cheeky slogans such as "Shoes and egos at the door," with outdoor acryllic paint "and a lot of patience!" she quips. Katherine tells Grazia, "Everyone has a home, everyone has a door, and everyone has a personality. You walk through your door every single day, why shouldn't it make you happy?" She has a point.
Katherine, who also has a sideline in comedy mummy blogging, continues, "Dubai lends itself to allowing you to explore new adventures you wouldn't have otherwise. If you have an idea that's fresh, and that's of the moment, you can make it happen."
- DXB Doormats come in a standard size of 60cm x 40cm for Dhs150 and or a palatial 90cm x 60cm for Dhs250. Shop online at Little Majlis here.
